British Edwardian Period Dagger with Scabbard, 10''coffin shaped double edged blade is inscribed ''E(Crown)R/(Maltese Cross)JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS/*6, NORFOLK STREET, SHEFFIELD/ENGLAND'' on the ricasso. The engraved gold plated crossguard and pale yellow celluloid handle with flower and leaf motifs, and a light blue stone inset into the pommel cap. Condition is very good, the blade has been cleaned, showing traces of old sharpening and handling marks. There is dark patina with pitting to both sides of the ricasso. Guard shows thinning and wear to the gold finish. Handle with a few minor chips and fine closed cracks behind the guard; it fits tightly to the blade. Scabbard has a wooden body covered with brown leather and a gold finished locket and chape engraved with matching flower and leaf motifs. Condition is very good, with some light flaking and handling marks to the leather, wear and scratches to the gold finish. Both the locket and chape fit loosely to the body. The blade slides smoothly in and out. Est.: $700-$900.
