Marlin 1893 1st Model Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine, #285241, .38-55 cal., 20'' round barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend, blue steel crescent buttplate, ivory bead blade front sight, ladder rear sight, with saddle ring. Factory markings are clear, with ''SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL'' on the left side of the barrel. Mfg'd 1903. Carbine is in fine overall condition, barrel retains approx. 96%-97% toning blue finish, with light scratches and handling marks. Magazine tube appears to be a later replacement. Receiver has been cleaned and polished bright, displaying traces of the original color case hardened finish, showing brighter color in the hammer and lever assembly. Receiver and tang are drilled and tapped with the holes filled by screws. Stock is near excellent, with minor markings and oil darkening at the wrist. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly. Bore is fine with some areas of light erosion and well-defined rifling. With factory letter. Est.: $900-$1,400. (C&R/PPT)
