Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Rifle, #9064, .40-60 cal., 28'' octagon barrel, half-magazine, blued finish; case hardened hammer, lever, and buttplate. Varnished straight grip walnut stock and forend. Sights include a dovetailed blade front and semi-buck rear with elevator. Mfg'd circa 1881. Only approx. 20,000 were manufactured. Rifle is in good condition, retaining approx. 30% thinning and toning blue; balance is gray with areas of dark patina. There is an area of moderate cleaned pitting on the right side of the frame, which has had old added blue applied. Wood with an added coat of varnish applied over general moderate marks from age and wear. Factory markings are clear. Action functions well. Bore is very good with defined rifling.
