Engraved Manhattan Arms Co. Six-Shot Bar Hammer Pepperbox Pistol, .31 cal., 3.5'' fluted barrel group, metal with a heavy brown patina, two-piece hardwood bag style grips, no sights. Sides and back of the frame with simple scroll engraving. Barrel is marked ''CAST STEEL''. Left side of the hammer is marked ''MANHATTAN F.A. MFG. CO./NEW YORK''. Mfg'd circa 1856-1859. Overall condition is fair to good, displaying heavy brown patina to most of the metal surfaces. Markings are good, engraving is worn yet visible. Grips are good with several small old mars from age and use. Action revolves the barrels however the trigger does not cock the bar hammer and needs repair. Bores show light to moderate erosion.
