Lot 421 Early Production Remington-Beals Navy Single Action Percussion Revolver

Early Production Remington-Beals Navy Single Action Percussion Revolver, #172, .36 cal., 7.5'' octagon barrel, reblued finish, smooth walnut two-piece grips, silver cone front sight, and notched rear sight. Barrel address reads ''BEALS PATENT, SEPT. 14, 1858/MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y.'' Visible matching numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. The Remington Beals Navy revolver was made circa 1861-1862, with approx. 14,500 produced. Revolver is in fair condition, retaining traces of what looks like an old reblued finish on the barrel, balance with golden hues, and light pitting scattered throughout. Barrel address is clear. There are pieces missing from the lower back corner of each grip; otherwise, good with scattered dents and scratches. Action is crisp but the cylinder spins freely when in battery. Most of the single wing on the cylinder pin looks like it was broken off and then reshaped. Bore with general light erosion; rifling is very good. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)(Michael Streitbeck Collection)
