Lot 418 Target Modified Remington Rolling Block Single Shot Pistol

Target Modified Remington Rolling Block Single Shot Pistol, #236, .22 cal., 10'' half-round/half-octagon barrel, blued finish, smooth walnut grip, German silver blade front sight, and semi-buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Marked on top of the barrel ''REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.''. Left side of the frame is marked in two-lines with makers information, ''April 17th 1866'' last patent date; no visible ''P'' or ''S''. There is no visible number on the barrel and the forend does not match. Overall condition is good. Barrel has been refinished and shows several dents, scratches, spots of patina and light erosion. There are traces of added nitre blue on the frame. Factory lettering is clear. Wood with mostly moderate dents and scratches but there is a piece missing from the bottom of the grip, below the guns backstrap. Action is tight and operates smoothly. Bore is dark with general erosion and the rifling is worn; good candidate for relining. Est.: $500-$800. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
