Triplett & Scott Repeating Rifle Made by Meriden Mfg. Co., #978, .50 RF cal., 30'' barrel, originally with blue and case hardened finish; hardwood buttstock and forend. Approx. 5,000 were manufactured circa 1864-1865. Condition is fair overall, showing much age and wear. Metal is uncleaned. Buttstock was crudely repaired at the wrist many years ago. It also has two old losses and a vertical crack along the top of the buttstock. Sling swivel/base are missing. Forend is overall good, with ''50'' carved into the rear right side. Markings are good. Action is not working. Bore is fair to good with defined rifling and scattered light erosion. Est.: $800-$1,000. (Antique)
