Remington Whitmore Lifter Model 1873 Side-by-Side Shotgun, #389, 12 ga., 20-5/8'' damascus twist barrels, fixed cylinder choke on both barrels, 2-5/8'' chambers, and brass bead front sight; brown finish. Walnut stock and splinter forend; lop is 13.75''. Mfg'd circa 1873. Includes; a brown leather lace up recoil pad. Sliding block is marked ''AE WHITMORE'S/PATENTS/AUG. 8 1871/APR. 16 1872''. Markings on rib are mostly worn. Matching numbers on frame, barrels, and forend. Condition is good with overall blue/brown patina. Stock with light general scuffs and scratches. The wrist has cracks on both sides and evidence of an older repair; metal buttplate sits proud as the stock has shrunk. Action locks up well but the right hammer does not lock to the rear and the right trigger does not set; both hammer springs are strong; extractors function properly. The barrel locking wedge has been broken in the past and has been repaired. Bores are dark but may clean. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)
