Lot 283 1917 Dated Reworked DWM Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol
1917 Dated Reworked DWM Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, #1285i, 9mm cal., 4'' barrel, rust blue finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-"V" front sight, fixed rear sight with small "V"-notched groove, with stock lug. Includes one unnumbered blued magazine with wood base; base is marked with illegible ''crowned'' gothic letter. Pistol is marked DWM'' on toggle with ''1917'' date on top of chamber. Right side of receiver with three ''(crown)/script letter'' military proofs and test fire proof mark. There is light ''PTV'' and ''(eagle) on right side of the barrel; ''(eagle)33'' and ''(eagle)RC'' on the upper left side. All visible numbers matching except for the barrel, which was replaced and is stamped with a larger ''3'' on the underside. Grip numbers are faint but appear to match. Condition is good, retaining approx. 80% blue, showing general edge and muzzle wear, backstrap has worn to gray, with scattered mild frosting. Factory lettering and proof marks are mostly clear, the exception being the marks on right side of the barrel. Small parts retain little finish and are now mostly silver. Grips show expected age and wear that matches the overall condition of this pistol. Action functions smoothly; hold open does not function with this particular magazine. Bore with mild erosion throughout and the grooves are dark; rifling is still clearly defined. Magazine body is lightly pitted and frosted, with patina and finish loss along the back half. Est.: $1,200-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
