Lot 264 Colt U.S. Black Army Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Colt U.S. Black Army Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #578945, .45 ACP cal., 5'' barrel, blued finish, checkered walnut grips, blade front sight, and ''U''-notch rear sight. Includes one two-tone lanyard loop magazine; shows moderate age and wear. Made in late-1918. Receiver is marked ''(Eagle)/S16'' (Springfield Armory inspector) on the left, and ''UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No 578945'' on the right. Slide has patent dates to ''JULY, 19, 1913'', ''(Rampant Colt)'', and ''COLT'S PT F.A. MFG CO./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.'' on the left side, and ''MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY'' on the right. Barrel is marked ''HP'' on the hood. Pistol is in fine condition. Dark blued finish is approx. 80%, with most of the wear at the grip area, the hood of the barrel, and left front of the slide. Factory lettering is crisp. Diamond grips are also fine, with a few light handling marks, and sharp checkering. Action works properly but the safety is stiff to set. Rifling is good but with light pitting throughout. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (C&R/PPT)
