^Lot 259 Winchester-Lee USN Model 1895 Straight Pull Rifle

Winchester-Lee USN Model 1895 Straight Pull Rifle, #3154, 6MM cal., 28'' barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, blade front sight, and ''V''-notch rear sight. This rifle is from the first Navy contract 1896-1897. Receiver is marked '' MANUFACTURERED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.-/NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.'' and patent dates. Top of the receiver is marked ''U.S.N.-/Anchor No 3154/-N.C.T.-''. Rifle is in good condition. Overall blued finish is 75%, mixed with scattered patina, and the buttplate shows rust. Stock is fair, with dents and scratches throughout. There is an 8'' crack on the left side, starting below the rear sight, and wood repairs at the buttplate tang. Handguard has two cracks behind the rear sight. Bolt functions smoothly but will not always stay locked when closed. Bore is fair, showing erosion and light pitting. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
