Scarce Thompson Center Contender Steve Herrett Outstanding American Handgunner 1981 Commemorative Pistol, #SH129, .30 Herrett cal., 10'' barrel, high luster blue finish, finely grained smooth walnut grips with lighter wood base, ramped blade front sight, and adjustable square-notched rear sight. Marked ''Steve Herrett'' in script on top of the finely scroll engraved barrel. Frame is engraved with Steve Herrett's face on the left side and target shooting pose on the right. Includes a factory walnut presentation case with maroon velveteen interior, leatherette gold embossed tributes to Herrett in the lid and interior. Also includes one each .30 Herrett and .357 Herrett round. Pistol is in excellent overall condition, retaining 99%+ finish, and appears unfired. Factory lettering and engraving are sharp. Grips are in excellent condition with attractive figure and graining. Action is crisp and locks up securely. Bore is mirror bright with strong rifling. Exterior of the case is in near excellent condition, with intermittent light scratches on the lid; interior is excellent. Released in 1986 and limited in production to 500, the pistol honors Steve Herrett and his contributions to shooting sports. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (Modern/PPT)
