Scarce Baerten Engraved Browning Superposed Pointer Grade Small Frame Factory Three Barrel Set, #30408V3.All barrels are 26-1/2” long, ribs with target beads; the 20 ga. is chambered for 2-3/4” and 3” shells, the 28 ga. for 2-3/4” , and .410 bore 2-1/2” or 3”. All barrels are marked IC/Mod; .410 barrel is tight, which is not unusual for a fixed choke Belgian gun; 20 ga. barrel measures CYL/IC. The Browning boxlock action uses a single underlug lockup, and features a single selective mechanical trigger, non-automatic safety, and selective ejectors. The receiver is finished in silver gray, and features a setter on the left side, pointer on the right, and partridge on the bottom. The game scenes are surrounded by rose and scroll engraving, pheasant on the trigger guard, and other misc. engraving done on the top and bottom tangs plus forend iron; all engraving done by J. Baerten, at FN, and signed on right side of the frame. The three full-size forends and round knob long tang buttstock are of high-gloss presentation grade European walnut, and feature hand checkering at 22 LPI, and a Mershon Co. ''White Line'' recoil pad. There is a gold plaque on buttstock, with initials ''JFK''. Stock dimensions are 13-3/4'' x 1-1/2'' x2''. Gun is contained in an original Browning brown Naugahyde case, includes owner's manual, and was made by FN in Belgium in 1963. Condition is near excellent overall, with each barrel retaining approx. 95% factory blue, showing moderate wear in front of the forend. Receiver with intermittent light handling marks and carry wear, primarily on the bottom of the frame and lower tang. Wood rates fine, with noticeable scattered handling marks; buttstock with nice figure. There is moderate wear to the action, which closes tightly and functions correctly; bores are mirror bright.
