Colt Model 1883 Hammerless Side-by-Side Shotgun, #1678, 12 ga., 30'' damascus twist solid rib barrels have 2-3/4'' chambers and are choked IM/FULL. The boxlock action is locked up via dual underlugs plus a Doll's Head rib extension; gun features double triggers, automatic safety, and plain extractors. The case-hardened receiver is worn to 20% remaining; opening lever and trigger guard are blued, and light border engraving is present. The splinter forend and round knob long tang stock are ''C'' grade oil-finished walnut, and feature hand checkering at 22 LPI, and an original Colt buttplate. An accompanying Colt letter verifies the features. Condition of the shotgun is very good, used but not abused; there are numerous handling marks to the wood and nominal wear to the action, which closes tight and functions correctly. Barrels have very nice damascus patterns and bores are mirror bright. Est.: $900-$1,200. (Antique)
