Early Pre-War Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle, #8922, .270 Win. cal., 24'' barrel, blue finish. Checkered walnut one-piece pistol grip stock with sling swivels, ending with a solid rubber recoil pad, providing a 13.25'' LOP. Hooded steel beaded blade front sight, rear sight was removed and filled with a dovetailed sight blank. Lyman aperture sight has been added at left side of the receiver. Rifle also features correct early safety. Receiver is drilled and tapped. Factory markings are clear, with Winchester ''WP'' proofs on the left side of the barrel and receiver. Matching serial number on the bolt. Mfg'd in 1937, the 1st year of production. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 94%-95% thinning factory finish, showing light wear at the muzzle, light scratches and small mars. Stock with indentations on both sides of the butt, and minor storage marks. Action functions smoothly. Bore is very good with well-defined rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
