Lot 119 Colt 1st Generation Single Action Army Revolver

Colt 1st Generation Single Action Army Revolver, #356337, .38 Spl. cal., 5.5'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front sight, with square-notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT, U.S.A.; left side ''COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL''. Lower left side of the frame with two-line patent dates and ''(Rampant Colt)''. Marked assembly number ''12'' on inside of the loading gate. Mfg'd 1938. This revolver came from an estate with a note attached saying that it had been ''rebuilt'', to what extent we cannot be certain. Revolver is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 85% blue; scratching and wear at the muzzle, and wear to the backstrap account for most of the bluing loss. Case colors show a little muting in the usual areas like the recoil shield and loading gate, still most remain and they are primarily vibrant. There is some mild scratching to sides of the polished hammer. Markings on the barrel are sharp and have likely been enhanced. Replacement grips show normal light handling wear, and there is a small gap visible along the lower part of the backstrap. Action is strong and cycles smoothly, but the cylinder will not manually lock into place on the third click. Bore rates near excellent overall and is bright throughout with well-defined rifling; may have been recrowned. Est.: $1,600-$2,200. (C&R/PPT)
