Lot 106 Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle

Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, #128116, .38 W.C.F. cal., 26'' round barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut forend and straight grip stock, case hardened smooth crescent buttplate, Beach combination front sight, and buckhorn rear sight with elevator. A later Marbles aperture sight has been added at the tang. Factory markings are clear, including the Marlin barrel address, marked ''MARLIN SAFETY'' on top of the receiver. Mfg'd in 1895, the 2nd year of production. Rifle is in very good overall condition. Barrel and magazine tube with a combination thinning and toning blue mixed with brown patina; showing general frosting, age, and wear. Receiver shows mottled toning silvered case hardening, with edgewear and some areas of very mild surface erosion. Hammer and lever show muted colors, particularly in the protected areas. Buttstock with indentations, flaking finish, and marks consistent with age and use. Buttplate is slightly proud at the toe. Forend with scattered dents and scratches, finish has worn. Action functions well and locks up securely. Bore is fair, showing moderate to heavy erosion, with visible rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
