Antique Marlin Model 1889 Lever Action Rifle, #43625, .38-40 cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend, with a color case hardened crescent buttplate, dovetailed German silver blade front and standard elevator ''U''-notch rear sight. Marked ''MARLIN SAFETY'' in script on top of the receiver. Mfg'd 1890. Rifle is in very good overall condition, retaining traces of thinning factory finish, primarily on the magazine and in the protected areas, showing cleaning and scattered light pin prick pitting along the barrel. Metal surfaces have drifted to gray patina with the receiver showing dull color case hardened finish, with light erosion and freckles of pin prick pitting. Lever has traces of muted color case hardened finish. Tang shows marks and wear. Stock is very good, with scattered impressions and marks from years of handling and use; buttplate is proud at the toe. Action functions smoothly and locks up securely.
