Deluxe Special Order Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Takedown Rifle, #176528, .38-55 cal., 26'' half-octagon/half-round barrel, with a half-magazine, blue and color case hardened finish, replacement Lyman brass tipped blade front and buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Finely checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forend with smooth steel crescent buttplate. Factory markings are clear, with ''SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL'' on the left side of the barrel, and ''MARLIN SAFETY'' on top of the receiver. Mfg'd 1899. Rifle is in fine condition, retaining approx. 96%-97% blue, on the barrel and magazine, showing mild thinning and toning, with wear at the muzzle, light scratches, and some freckles of patina. Receiver, hammer, and lever display approx. 40% thinning and toning case colors, the balance is gray/silver, with frosting and very mild erosion on sides of the receiver. There is darker patina on the underside of the takedown collar. Wood is in outstanding condition and was likely restored, with sharp checkering, showing only minor storage marks. Action functions well. Bore rates near excellent with well-defined rifling. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (C&R/PPT)
