Sharp Marlin Model 1897 Lever Action Takedown Rifle, #219575, .22 S-L-LR cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blue and color case hardened finish. Finely checkered walnut forend and pistol grip stock, ending with a checkered hard rubber buttplate. With Beach type combination folding front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Factory markings are sharp, with ''MARLIN SAFETY'' on top of the receiver, with a clear barrel address. Mfg'd 1901. Rifle is in near excellent overall condition, retaining approx. 96%-97% toning finish on the barrel and magazine with light wear at the muzzle, some fine scratches, and edgewear. Receiver displays a considerable amount of strong case colors, balance shows toning and muting, with areas of light frosting and perhaps very mild surface erosion. Lever has worn to mostly silver/gray with traces of color case hardened finish to the sides. Upper tang is drilled and tapped for an aperture sight. Stock with scattered light indentations and impressions, particularly on left side of the forend; checkering detail is crisp. Action functions smoothly. Bore is very good, showing moderate wear, with clearly defined rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
