^Lot 89 Remington Type III Model No. 4 Double Derringer

Remington Type III Model No. 4 Double Derringer, #L99789, .41 RF short cal., 3'' barrel group, blued finish, two-piece checkered hard rubber grips, integral blade front sight, and small ''U''-notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked "REMINGTON ARMS U.M.C. CO. ILION, N.Y." Matching number on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Approx. 55,000 produced circa 1912-1935. This derringer is in excellent condition, retaining approx. 97%-98% of its original blue finish, with a little toning to the barrel, and a few light handling marks. Factory markings are sharp. Checkered black hard rubber grips are also excellent. Action is crisp. Bores are excellent with well-defined rifling. Includes two-piece cardboard box with Remington-UMC end label and blued cleaning rod. Box is in very good condition, showing typical discoloration from age, end label shows some age and wear but is still mostly legible. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R/PPT)(Michael Strietbeck Collection)
