Lot 80 Remington Vest Pocket No. 2 Saw Handle Single Shot Derringer

Remington Vest Pocket No. 2 Saw Handle Single Shot Derringer, #4396, .41 RF cal., 4'' half-round/half-octagon barrel, nickel finish, two-piece smooth hardwood grips, small cone front sight, and ''V''-notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked in two-lines ''REMINGTONS ILION N.Y./PATD OCT. 1, 1861. NOV. 15, 1864''. Mfg'd circa 1865-1888. This derringer is in overall fine condition, retaining approx. 93% of its original nickel finish, with general small marks and scratches. There is some darkened mild pitting on the sides of the frame, and a few small spots on the barrel. Factory markings are sharp. Grips are good, with ample oil finish remaining, small dents and handling marks throughout. Action is crisp. Bore/rifling are very good, with a few scattered spots of mild erosion. Est.: $400-$600.
