Lot 68 Remington New Model Police Single Action Percussion Revolver

Remington New Model Police Single Action Percussion Revolver, #4847, .36 cal., 4.5'' octagon barrel, originally blue with color case hardened hammer, brass trigger guard, smooth two-piece rosewood grips, brass blade front sight, and fixed notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked in three-lines "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK. U.S.A./NEW MODEL". Matching visible numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Approx. 18,000 produced circa 1865-1873. Overall condition of this revolver is good, displaying an even gray patina to the metal surfaces, with traces of blue finish is some of the protected areas, and mild pin prick pitting. Factory markings are legible. Grips are fine with pleasing grain patterns and all their rich varnish refinish remaining, with intermittent light handling marks. Action is crisp.
