Colt Model 1878 Double Action Revolver, #41743, .45 Colt cal., 4.75'' barrel, blued finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt logo at the top of each panel; lanyard ring at the butt. Standard sights include a blade front and ''V''-notch rear. Top of the barrel with two-line address; left side ''45 COLT.'' Left rear of the frame with ''(Rampant Colt)''. Mfg'd 1899. Condition of this revolver is near fine, retaining approx. 70% bright original finish, showing general thinning and wear; with the most significant losses to the grip frame, cylinder, and ejector rod housing. Metal with small marks and scratches scattered throughout, including more concentrated scratching partially obscuring the Rampant Colt on the frame. Barrel with a few spots of light pitting. Nitre bluing on the trigger and back of the hammer is strong; sides of the hammer are polished bright. Barrel markings are crisp. Grips are very good and have no significant blemishes, displaying general moderate smoothing of the checkering and detail. Action cycles smoothly. Bore/rifling are near fine with a few spots of mild erosion. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R/PPT)
