Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, #65135, .45 Colt cal., 7.5'' barrel, originally blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front and fixed ''V''-notch rear sight. Top of barrel with one-line address. Lower left side of the frame with three-line patent dates. Serial numbers are matching on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Barrel is numbered ''3159''. There is a ''2'' and ''B'' on back of the cylinder. Loading gate with ''5030'' assembly number. Mfg'd 1881. Revolver is in good condition, displaying approx. 10% muted blue finish in the protected areas, hints of case color to the frame and hammer, the balance areas of dark patina and scattered surface blemishes associated with age and use. Grips with pleasing grain patterns, several small old mars on the lower left grip panel, showing a little shrinkage from age. Factory markings are legible. Action is crisp and functions smoothly, with all four clicks. Bore is fair with scattered light to moderate erosion; rifling is clearly defined. Includes factory letter confirming the caliber and finish; type of stocks ''not listed''. Shipped to Wexell & DeGress, Mexico City, Mexico, on March 4, 1881, as one of 50 same type guns in shipment. When no information on barrel length or type of stocks is available. This is usually an indication of a 7-1/2'' barrel length and walnut stocks as these were considered standard issue for that period. The records also contain another listing for this serial number that indicates it was a .44-40 caliber revolver with a blue finish. The barrel length and stocks were not listed. This revolver was included in a shipment of 50 guns to Hartley & Graham in New York on August 24, 1881. Est.: $3,000-$4,000. (Antique)
