London Shipped Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, #45138, .45 Eley cal., 5.5'' barrel, blued finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front and fixed ''V''-notch rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked in one line ''COLT'S PT F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD CT, U.S.A. DEPOT 14 PALL MALL LONDON.'' Lower left side of the frame with three-line patent dates. Caliber is marked on left rear of the trigger guard ''45 CAL./B''. Serial numbers are matching on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Inside of loading gate with ''1463'' assembly number. Revolver rates in antique good condition, displaying an even dark patina, scattered light to moderate pinprick pitting and spots of erosion, with a few spots that were likely scrubbed of some cosmetic blemishes. Barrel address, patent dates, and caliber markings are clear. Hardwood grips show age and wear that is consistent with the rest of the revolver and have a '' x '' chip at the front bottom of the right grip panel. Action is crisp but the cylinder spins freely on the third click. Bore is primarily bright with a little intermittent light erosion and defined rifling. Includes factory letter that confirms the caliber and ''short barrel'', which is how this barrel length was sometimes referred to on SAA that were shipped to London. Revolver was shipped to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Co. London Agency, London, England, on April 10, 1878, as one of 224 same type guns in shipment. Est.: $2,500-$3,000. (Antique)
