Remington Transitional New Model Navy Civilian Single Action Percussion Revolver, #23187, .36 cal., 7-3/8'' octagon barrel, blued finish, brass trigger guard, two-piece smooth walnut grips, silver cone front sight, and ''U''-shaped rear sight. Barrel is marked in two-lines ''PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK, U.S.A.'' No ''New Model'' markings and this revolver still features some of the earlier features found on the Model 1861 Navy revolver. Other markings include a small ''B'' stamped on the left front side of the frame. Matching numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Back of the cylinder is marked ''3170E''. Condition is very good, retaining approx. 45% blue, located primarily on the barrel and lever. Balance of the metal has an even gray appearance, with some areas of mild pin prick pitting. Barrel address is clear. Left grip rates as fine showing moderate signs of age and wear; right grip with a few more noticeable impressions and small chip from the lower edge. Action is crisp.
