Civilian Remington Model 1865 Navy Rolling Block Pistol, #NVSN, .50 RF cal., 8.5'' round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, walnut one-piece grip and forend, spur trigger, blade front sight, and small notched groove located on the breechblock. Top of barrel is marked with small naval anchor near the breech. No barrel address or serial number on the barrel. Left side of the frame is marked ''REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A. / PAT. MAY 30 NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866''. Mfg'd circa 1866-1870. Pistol is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 70%-75% thinning and toning blue on the barrel, hammer, trigger, and breechblock. Case colors are now mostly silver, with general mild pitting to frame. Factory markings are clear. Grip and forend with scattered mostly moderate impressions and handling marks. showing considerable rich oil finish. Action is crisp.
