Special Order Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, #10834, .45-90 W.C.F. cal., 26'' round barrel, blue and color case hardened finish; finely checkered deluxe walnut forend and pistol grip stock with sling swivel studs, and case hardened steel crescent buttplate. Replacement Marbles ''SHEARD'' brass tipped blade front sight and buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Left side of the lower tang is marked ''1186 XX''. Number ''1186'' is also located inside of the stock channel and backside of the buttplate. Mfg'd in 1887, the 2nd year of production. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 94%-95% thinning finish on the barrel and magazine with wear at the muzzle, light scratches and a rub mark on top of the barrel. Front sight is undersized for the dovetail. Receiver and hammer retain a considerable amount of muted case colors, primarily on the sides of the receiver and hammer. Bottom of the receiver has worn to mostly silver and is lightly pitted, likely from being used as a carry point. Lever with case colors visible on the sides, the balance has worn to gray. Buttplate has worn to silver with scattered, darkened spots of mild erosion and patina. Finish on the loading gate is strong. Stock is in fine condition, showing attractive figure, scattered indentations and other typical marks associated with age and use. Checkering detail is primarily crisp. There is small piece of wood missing from the upper left side corner of the wrist, adjacent the receiver. Base of the pistol grip with an ebony insert. Action is crisp and functions smoothly. Bore is very good with clearly defined rifling; there are some spots of light erosion, most are within the first 3''-4'' down from the muzzle. Est.: $7,000-$9,000. (Antique)
