Lot 32 Late New Haven Arms Co. Henry Model 1860 Lever Action Rifle

Late New Haven Arms Co. Henry Model 1860 Lever Action Rifle, #12832, .44 RF cal., 24'' barrel, brass frame, smooth walnut buttstock with sling swivel on the left side, brass buttplate with trapdoor, German silver blade front sight, notched rear sight with rounded folding leaf. Top of the barrel is marked in two-lines ''HENRY'S PATENT. OCT. 16, 1860/MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CT.'' Barrel is numbered ''12896'', which is 64 numbers away from the serial number on left side of the receiver tang (12832). Inside of the upper stock channel is numbered ''10276''. Buttplate number was not verified, as the lower screw is marred and could not be removed. Lower tang with small ''W'' inspector's stamp. Mfg'd 1866. Rifle is in very good overall condition, displaying signs of even age and wear throughout the rifles parts. Barrel has a mostly mottled brown, uncleaned appearance. Barrel address is clear. Brass shows even toning, with expected handling marks, and a few spots of darkening to the right side. Buttstock with scattered moderate marks from age and use; wood to metal fit at the receiver is strong; there is an impression at the toe, leaving the buttplate a little proud. Action functions well. Bore with scattered moderate surface erosion; rifling is well-defined and rates very good. Overall, a nice looking Henry rifle. Est.: $12,000-$15,000. (Antique)
