Sharps Model 1874 Breech-Loading Sporting Rifle, #NVSN, .45 2-7/8 cal., 30'' barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, blade front sight, and ''V''- notch rear sight. Octagon barrel is marked ''OLD RELIABLE'' and ''SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIGEPORT CONN.'' in front of the rear sight. Receiver is marked ''SHARPS PAT./SEPT. 12th 1848'' on the left side. Metal finish has gone to an overall gray/brown patina. Stock is very good, with some minor scrapes, and there is a 4'' to 5'' repair at the front. Buttplate is checkered. Action works properly. Bore is very good with a stubborn area of fouling at the back, which may clean better. Est.: $3,000-$4,000. (Antique)
