Lot 25 Colt Model 1873 U.S. Cavalry Single Action Revolver with Holster
Colt Model 1873 U.S. Cavalry Single Action Revolver with Holster, #50035, .45 Colt cal., 7.5'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, walnut grips, blade front sight, and ''U''-notch rear sight. Included is a M1881 Type 2 Holster. Revolver was made in 1878 and all serial numbered parts match. Receiver has the three-line patent dates with ''U S'' on the left side, and ''HN'' (Henry Nettleton) over ''50035'' on the bottom. Trigger guard is marked ''HN/50035'' and the backstrap is marked ''50035'', with ''HN'' behind the hammer. Hammer has ''HN'' on the left side. Cylinder is marked ''HN'' with a ''P'', and ''0035''. Loading gate is marked ''107''. Barrel is marked ''COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. U.S.A.'' on top; ''HN'' with a ''P'', and ''0035'' on the underside. Front sight is slightly reduced. Blue and case hardened finish has turned brown with pitting scattered throughout. Heaviest pitting is at the front of the barrel and top of the receiver. Replacement grips are not serial numbered and are in too good of condition for this revolver. The inspector marks on the grips do not appear authentic but are marked as such; ''HN'' right side and ''1878/JEG'' (Capt. J. E. Greer) left side, with ''HN'' on the bottom. Action is crisp, and the cylinder locks up tight with all four clicks. Bore is fair with erosion with pitting. Holster is in fair condition but was re-stitched and the bottom plug was replaced. Flap is crazed with losses and marked ''W.T.G'' near the end. Est.: $4,000-$5,000. (Antique)
