Lot 24 Colt Model 1873 U.S. Cavalry Single Action Revolver
Colt Model 1873 U.S. Cavalry Single Action Revolver, #93893, .45 Colt cal. 7.5'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, one-piece walnut grip, blade front sight, and ''U''-notch rear sight. The revolver was made in 1883 and has all matching serial numbered parts. Receiver has the three-line patent dates and ''U.S.'' on the left side, and D.F.C. (David F. Clark) with ''93893'' on the bottom. Loading gate is marked ''1011'' Trigger guard and backstrap are marked ''93893'' with a ''G''. Cylinder is marked ''D.F.C.'' with a ''P'' and ''3893''. Barrel is marked ''COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.'' on top and ''3893'', ''D.F.C'', and ''P'' on the bottom. Condition is very good overall. Light case colors are visible on the frame and hammer. Blued finish is approx. 25%-30%, mostly on the trigger guard and ejector housing. Factory lettering is clear. Grips have light handling marks, are serial numbered to the revolver but not inspected. Grips also have an old original varnish finish and the trigger guard is marked ''45 CAL'', indicating this revolver may be a buy back or overrun that was sold commercially by Colt. Action locks up tight with 4 distinct clicks. Bore rates very good and is primarily bright, with a few spots of light erosion, and defined rifling. Est.: $3,500-$5,500. (Antique)
