Factory Refurbished U.S. Colt Single Action Army Revolver Shipped to Manila, Philippines, #2575, .45 Colt cal., 7.5'' barrel, blued finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front sight, and fixed ''V'-notch rear sight. Manufactured in 1874 and has all matching visible serial numbers. Receiver has two-line patent dates and ''U.S.'' on the left side, and ''2575'' on the bottom. Loading gate is marked ''1794''. Trigger guard and backstrap are marked ''2575'', with a small ''A'' in front of the trigger guard. Cylinder is marked ''2575'', with small ''A'' and ''P''. Barrel is marked ''+COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.+'' on top and ''2575'', ''P'', and ''A'', on the bottom. Grip is not numbered and there are no visible cartouches. Overall condition is good, displaying an even brown/gray patina throughout, with some areas of mild pitting, general marks from age and use. Patent dates on the frame are partially worn. Otherwise, factory lettering is clear. Grips show moderate age and shrinkage, with scattered light handling marks. Action is crisp with all four clicks. Bore with some light etching but rates very good overall, with defined rifling. Includes a factory letter dated March 16, 1999, signed by Colt Historian Kathleen J. Hoyt, confirming the caliber and finish. Both the barrel length and type of stocks are ''Not Listed''. Factory letter states this revolver was shipped to ''Commanding Officer'', Address ''Manila Philippine Islands'' on November 26, 1901, as one of 100 same type guns in shipment. Interestingly, under ''Remarks'' the letter states ''The original records pertaining to this revolver were lost or destroyed many years ago. However, our records do indicate the return of this revolver for refurbishing and subsequent reshipment as noted above. The refurbishing consisted of replacement of worn parts, exterior refinishing and reassembly.'' Est.: $4,000-$6,000. (Antique)
