Period Modified Colt Model 1860 Army ''Mormon Avenger'' Percussion Revolver, #185958, .44 cal., barrel cut down to 3'', blue and case hardened finish, brass trigger guard, smooth walnut grips, brass blade front and fixed ''V''-notch rear sight. Visible numbers are matching. Wedge is not numbered. Mfg'd 1870. Revolver is in overall good condition as modified, displaying an even gray patina to the metal surfaces, with scattered mild pitting, old marks from age and use; expected moderate patina to the brass trigger guard. Hardwood grips fit nicely and are overall very good, with some old mars and wear to the bottom of both grip panels. Wood graining is pleasing; considerable rich oil finish remains. Factory markings are clear (portion of the barrel address was lost when the barrel was cut). Approx. 40% cylinder scene remains visible. One nipple is a replacement. Action is strong. Bore rates fair with visible rifling and light to moderate scattered erosion. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
