Lot 7 U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1873/79 Trapdoor Carbine

U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1873/79 Trapdoor Carbine, #191671, .45-70 cal., 22" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, walnut stock, blade front sight, and M1873 rifle "V"-notch rear sight. Receiver has the serial number and the breech block is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873". Lockplate is marked "(Eagle)" with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD". Barrel is marked "VP (Eagle) P" with an "A" at the back. Rifle is in good overall condition. Original finish has gone to patina with some moderate rust patina on the lockplate, barrel, and buttplate. Stock is unmarked and shows heavy use especially around the lockplate, buttplate, with dents and scratches throughout. Action works properly. Bore is lightly pitted with good rifling.
