British Snider Enfield Mk II** Breech-Loading Single Shot Rifle, #NVSN, .577 Snider cal., 30.6" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, blade front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with wide "V"-notch, graduated to 1000 yards. Includes the iron rammer. Arsenal converted from an 1853 Pattern rifled musket. Lockplate is marked "(Crown)V.R" and "B.S.A.Co./1865/(Lock Viewers mark)". There are proof and inspection stamps on left side of the barrel and receiver. Model number "II**" is stamped behind the rear sight. Right side of the buttstock is faintly stamped "BSA Co" and the left side is stamped with a rack number and "DC" for Dominion of Canada. Condition overall is fine, with toning to the barrel and trigger guard; wear to the lockplate, hammer, and barrel bands. Stock has been sanded and varnished, now in very good condition, with scattered mostly moderate impressions and handling marks. Action and loading gate operate smoothly, hammer holds in half and full cock position. Bores rates very good and is primarily bright with intermittent spots of patina, rifling is clearly defined.
