Lot 18 Sunset In The Sandhills – SCI Youth 1 of 1 painting
Winning bidder pays any shipping costs that are needed from Fargo.
This is a 1 of 1 painting 100% free handed specially made just for the SCI Red River Valley Chapter Banquet by 14 year old (at the time of the banquet) SCI Youth Member Lauren Vangsness of rural Kindred ND.
Lauren has grown up in the Sandhills area of North Dakota, as a little girl she used to visit her grandparents farm/ranch then watch the deer and turkeys walk through the woods and yard from the back window, for quite a few years she just assumed that every time her dad went hunting he just always came back with a deer, not how it actually works she later found out. Since 2020 her family moved onto the family farm and she regularly gets to see deer, turkey and pheasant in and around the yard, barnyard, and rolling pastures and crop fields along with all the other wonders that the area has to offer. In 2022 she went on her first hunt with her father for a spring turkey hunting trip to western ND which is now an annual trip that her younger sister started joining in 2025 and the fall of 2022 Lauren harvested her first whitetail doe and has been hunting ever since, finally getting her first turkey the fall of 2023. Hunting with her father she has pursued turkey, pheasant, grouse, and whitetail. This painting is all from what Lauren has grown up around from the pines, to the slight roll of the ground, the pheasant flying for cover from the field, the buck stepping out of the trees for the night, the turkey standing there mocking her in the open and the many different sunsets she has experienced.
Thank you Lauren for offering this painting and sharing a glimpse of what you live so often.
Value: Unknown at this time. Never know could become priceless one day
