Zulu Trapdoor 12 GA. Shotgun French Snuffbox Single Shot

Single shot trapdoor 12 gauge shotgun. 28.5 inch barrel.

This specimen is a French Tabatiere System (nicknamed the Snuffbox) conversion of a percussion
military muzzle loading rifle to fire shotgun shells. Converted to a shotgun (known as Zulu Guns) in
Belgium. Belgian proof marks on left side of barrel ( E, L, G in an oval). Also has a faint Proof mark
on gun ithat appears to be the Perron

These conversions to Zulu Shotguns occurred in the 1870s and 1880s.

MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Hardwood stock.

CONDITION: Steel is worn with arrears of rust spots. Bore is dark. Steel butt plate is original.
Wood is in good refinished condition throughout with no cracks.

Gun appears to function as intended but high pressure shells should not be usede.
