Antique - Enfield 1861 Cavalry Carbine 577 Snider c/w Dominion Canada Stamp

The British .577 Snider–Enfield was a breech-loading rifle. The American inventor, Jacob Snider
created this firearm action, and the Snider–Enfield was one of the most widely used of the Snider
varieties.

Cavalry Carbine, .577 Snider, 19 inch STEEL barrel. Lock clearly marked Crown/VR,
Enfield 1861 dated. Stamps and proof marks throughout.
Stock cartouche visible R.M. Enfield on right and DC (Dominion of Canada).
Butt tang is marked with number 19 plus CC 127
Bore is good with some rifling. Rear sight is flip up graduated but may be missing slide.
Numerous British proof markings down left side of barrel.
The one peice stock has a crack on the right side behind the Hammer and another one on left.

An uncommon early military firearm in Canada with only 2,500 reported available by Defending the
Dominion.
