Lot 4443 1600'S SAXON STYLE BONE INLAID HUNTING CROSSBOW

WITH STAND. Overall: 29.75". Steel prods measures 25.25" wide with 1/4" woven cloth string, 4 green & blue cloth dampers. Walnut stock held to bow by rope with a provision for iron loop at front. Stock has large finely carved bone inlay on top with additional bone inlays at tip, sides & butt. Motifs on top include 2 interlocking dragons & "Man-in-the-Moon". Steel lever acts as trigger for bone latch. 2 Steel studs on sides of stock for drawing string. Also included is 28.75" long walnut stand. CONDITION: the crossbow & stand appear good, intact overall with patina on steel parts along with side inlays separating from stock. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis.
