Lot 4435 INDO-PERSIAN SHIELD OF THE 18th OR 19th CENTURY.
This shield has a diameter of 24 3/4" and is profusely decorated with Indo-Persian scenes including elephants, soldiers, and flowers including a central multi-rayed sun. There are four raised 4 1/4" bosses on the front that support loops in the back for suspending the shield from the arm. CONDITION: front of the shield retains its decoration quite well with vivid and active scenes. The domed bosses show more wear and the inside of the shield has an oxidized finish. (02-25836/BF).
