^Lot 4431 18TH CENTURY EUROPEAN SILVER HILTED SMALLSWORD.

A gorgeous silver hilted smallsword of the 18th century measuring 38" overall with a plain 31 1/4" triangular cross-section blade with foliate etching over the first 8 1/2". Slightly oval delicately completely pierced heavily decorated guard with delicate small pas d'ane below a heavily embellished cross guard featuring a central pierced star. and dual drop quillons. The knuckle bow and crown shaped pommel are also heavily embellished and pierced. The base of the pommel has one discernable hallmark that is a loin passant. The grip is silver wire wrapped sheet silver. CONDITION: blade boasts an attractive light gray finish with easily visible etching. Hilt shows light wear overall. (02-26069/BF). NON-GUN. $1,200-1,600.
