Lot 4409 18TH CENTURY SCOTTISH BROADSWORD.

A nice example of a early 18th century Broadsword measuring 34 1/4" overall with a plain 27 3/4" double edged blade featuring two 7 3/8" fullers. There are 4 stamped king's head armorer's marks between the fullers on each side of the blade. The large decorated hilt has numerous pierced hearts throughout with further lineal adornments. Ball pommel that appears original with an analogous patina. Wood grip is an attractive replacement. CONDITION: iron has a dark patina as with some moderate pitting to the blade and light pitting in scattered areas on the hilt. The tip of the blade is a bit rounded. Grip shows light wear. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (02-24718/BF). NON-GUN. $1,500-2,500.
