Lot 4402 RARE BRITISH OFFICER'S SABER FOR THE
NORTHHAMPTONSHIRE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY.This saber was carried by a short lived British Cavalry unit called the Northamptonshire Imperial Yeomanry from 1902-1908. The saber's overall length is 41 1/2" and the etched blade measured 35 1/4". The etching includes a crowned horse over " NIY ", a crowned " ER VII ", along with foliate panels. The ricasso is marked " WILKINSON SWORD COY * LIMTD * LONDON " with a PROVED " medallion inside a six pointed star. Steel hilt with a two branch guard and a drop quillon. crosshatched pommel and backstrap. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip with the original leather sword knot attached. Brown leather covered iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows nearly all of the original factory polish with a tiny bit of staining. Hilt shows very light wear. Knot is solid. Scabbard shows wear to the leather and the two suspension rings are missing. (02-26074/BF). NON-GUN. $800-1,200.
