Lot 4392 EUROPEAN SWEPT HILT BROADSWORD.
This interesting broadsword is 46" in overall length with a 37.5" double edged blade with double wide fullers and fine central ridge. The armorers mark is found on the border engraved ricasso. The guard features a single plated side ring that is pierced with small cross patterns. Double arms attach to the S shaped hilt. A serpentine knuckle bow branches into the loop guard and counterguard bars. The pommel is fluted and file decorated en suite with the loop guard, side ring & S shaped hilt. The grip is wire wrapped with stylized ferrules. CONDITION: Metal surfaces have a mottled grey patina. Blade edge is good with slightly blunted tip and a mild bend. Nicely struck armorers mark.
