Lot 4391 STRIKING PAIR OF NATIVE AMERICAN BEADED & FRINGED

GAUNTLETS.These exceptional gauntlets likely date from the later 1800s and measure about 16" in length by about 9 1/2" at the cuffs. The fringe extends 9" from the body of the gauntlet. Both gauntlets are expertly decorated with very tightly spaced glass beads forming a spray of stylized flowers. Beading colors include light blue, orange, pink, blue, red, white, green and more. The base of the fringe has either orange or green tubular beads adding to the intense variation of color used in the decoration of these fine heavy gauntlets. They likely originated in the Northern Plains, possibly in the Dakota region. CONDITION: gauntlets are well worn, but exceptionally solid and complete. Only a very small number of beads are missing from the decoration on one of the gauntlets. (02-26085/BF). NON-GUN. $600-900.
