PERCUSSION RIFLE. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. William Buchele, 1895-1977, was a renowned builder of contemporary flintlock & percussion rifles & pistols in the 1960's-1970's. He is known as a co-author of the book "Recreating the American Long Rifle" with George Shumway and Peter Alexander. 33 3/4" octagon bbl. measures 3/4" across the flats. Top flat is engraved "Buchele". Brass blade front with fixed V notch rear sight. Under hammer action & plain trigger have a brass nipple shield. Maple butt stock of curly maple has a sliding fluted maple patch box cover. Nickel finished finger curl trigger guard. Crescent buttplate, toe plate, trigger plate stock escutcheons and 3 faceted pipes are German silver. Brass tipped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: fine, retaining most original finish. Sound action.
