Lot 4365 H. HANSON COLONIAL STYLE CONTEMPORARY FLINTLOCK
PISTOL. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 10" octagon with faceted breech measuring 1" across the flats. Top flat is engraved "H. Hanson". Dovetail mounted brass blade front sight with fixed square notch rear sight. Bbl. has a fine browned finish. Unmarked flintlock is finished in-the-white. Curled plain trigger. Pin fastened curly maple stock with engraved brass butt cap. Additional brass fittings include fancy finial trigger guard, sideplate, and nose cap. Hardwood ramrod held by a faceted brass thimble and single faceted brass pipe. Stock has relief carving around the top tang with moulded borders around the lock and sideplates having drop points. Additional moulded borders and incise carving are found along the bbl. and ramrod channels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 21" x 9 1/8" x 4 1/4" converted silverware box with added purple velour fitted interior. Case contains a lightly engraved flattened horn powder flask, brass oil bottle, and wood tipped brass cleaning rod. CONDITION: fine. Bbl. retains nearly all browned finish. Lock has good bright finish. Stock finish shows a few small marks. Brass parts have acquired a mild patina. Sound lock. Very good bore retains sharp rifling. (01-27926/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,200.
