Lot 4361 J. LEHTO CUSTOM MADE TRADITIONAL FLINTLOCK LONG
RIFLE. Cal. 52. NSN. 44" double taper octagon bbl with rifled bore. J. Lehto (possibly referring to Fred Lehto), is a well respected custom builder of traditional Pennsylvania style rifles. This ornate rifle is done in the style of the Buck's County School. German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight with fixed U-notch rear sight. Bbl and lock have a finely browned finish. Curled plain trigger with ornate web. Pin fastened full length curly maple stock having a molded border along the ramrod channel. Drop points behind the lock and sideplate with a molded cheekpiece and toeline. Elaborate floral carving is found around the thimble, top tang, wrist and cheekpiece areas. Right side of stock has an ornate segmented brass patchbox with raised rectangular lid having tasteful scroll engraving. Other brass fittings include the buttplate, floral engraved toeplate, finger curl triggerguard, sideplate and nosecap. Hardwood ramrod is held by octagon faceted thimble and two faceted octagon pipes. WEIGHT: 8lb, 10.6oz. CONDITION: bbl and lock retain 98% browned finish showing slight edge wear. Original stock finish shows scattered light handling marks and mildew spots. Brass fittings have acquired a light spotted patina. Sound lock and trigger. Very good bright bore. (01-28742/DS).
